I trained in art at Northumberland College between 1966 and 1969. During the following period, whilst a teacher, I worked at Wallsend Youth Centre doing set design for productions, along with some at the Newcastle Playhouse Workshop. I taught art and pottery evening classes at South Shields Marine and Technical College, as well as screen printing posters for Bailey's Night Clubs (later to become a manager with them). When I moved to Scarborough I ran a sign writing business. Many years later, back in education, I was a tutor on the Humberside 6th form visits to Venice and Paris. Later I ran painting holidays in Tuscany where I rented great acommodation for the participants and took them to great sights such as San Gimignano, Certaldo, Volterra and F;orence. Since then I have painted, on and off, until I moved to Leicestershire where, having a studio - (and more time!) I have worked continually seeking to find my preferred style once again. My membership on the committee of the Leicester Sketch Club has helped me get fully involved with my work.
